RSS Made Simple – In 3 Easy Steps

How great is it to have a social media software that Keeps It So Simple (KISS) they literally put “Simple” right in its name? RSS feed stands for Really Simple Syndication …and guess what?
It really is simple to set up and use.
Simple Definition – RSS provides one single web site (called Reader) where you can view any new information coming from your favorite web sites (called Feeds) – all in one place.
We found a short video that succinctly describes RSS feeds in Plain English. Visit: www.commoncraft.com/rss_plain_english.
The video describes setting up the RSS feeds. We thought going back and forth would not be simple for you, so we have included the steps here.
- Set up your free Reader. To do that go to: www.google.com/reader.
- Click on “Set Up New Account” filling in your email address, a password, and sundry bits of information.
- Once your reader account is set up you can start adding your favorite websites that have RSS feeds (called subscribing).
Look for this icon
on a website and click on that connector.
Alternatively, you can enter the website’s address into the “Add Subscription” section of your Google Reader. Google Reader will let you know if the site address has an RSS feed or not.
So now, instead of your having to click on each of your favorite web sites to find new and interesting information, your RSS feeds you all the latest and greatest stuff in one place.
How simple is that?!
