Giving Back Feels Great

The concept of reciprocity is not new. It is what communities – tribal members, neighbours, friends, and families – have been doing for ages, helping each other out in both good times and bad.
Succinctly put, reciprocity says, “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.” It is an unwritten code that allows one person to help another out, and when the helper is in need – the original recipient then becomes the helper. This reciprocal effect can continue indefinitely and reach out to many lives.
I believe it’s important to give back to the place in which you do business, as well as acknowledging the organizations that have helped you along the way.
Prairie Sun Creations has grown from a one-woman web designer operation to a full scale marketing and communications company with a team of over 30 talented professionals. In 2009, we celebrate our 10th year in business. We would not have succeeded without support from the city of Airdrie and such organizations as our local Chamber of Commerce.
We celebrated that support by giving back in a meaningful and lasting way. Prairie Sun Creations donated a grove of trees and bushes, planted at the entrance to Nose Creek Park in Airdrie, Alberta.

The celebration of our 10th anniversary and the dedication of the grove occurred on August 19, 2009. Representatives from the City of Airdrie and Airdrie Chamber of Commerce were in attendance, as were many members of Prairie Sun’s team.
My heartfelt appreciation goes to Pat, Richard, Mike and Linda who literally put their backs into this project. It was their hard work that helped me dig the holes and plant the trees and shrubs.
For their continued friendship and support, I also thank the City of Airdrie, the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce and the business community of Airdrie.
The grove was created to give back to the community in appreciation of how reciprocity has been alive and well in both our personal and business lives.
Enjoy!
